MOISTURE CONTROL FOR CONSTRUCTION FIREPROOF CURING

Fireproofing is a critical step in ensuring structures are protected against the damaging effects of a fire. The mixture comprises dry power and a substantial amount of water that becomes solid and flame-resistant as it dries and dissipates. While applying fireproofing in a high-rise office building under construction, a contractor began experiencing delays during the drying process.

The contractor attempted to speed up the process by using fans and ventilation. However, this method took 12 weeks and only dried one floor completely. With less than satisfactory results and additional setbacks in other construction phases, the contractor called our team to provide a more effective solution and get the project back on track.

OUR APPROACH

To speed up the process, our team brought in eight desiccant dehumidifiers, totalling 12,000 cfm, and immediately began drying the required floors. With the right equipment on-site, our team was able to shorten the time to cure the fireproofing to three weeks per floor. We were able to get the project back on track, and the building owner received tenants a month and a half earlier than expected.
